Earth and Heaven Contrasted.

Zion's Advocate, July 1898, Vol. 37, No. 7.

We are pilgrims here below
In this dark world of care,
But ere long we all shall go
To a home, bright and fair:
We shall gain a sweet release,
For our troubles there will cease,
And we all shall rest in peace
In our home over there.

Here dark clouds hang o'er the way
Casting gloom all around:
But in that sweet, happy day,
Endless light will abound
There no clouds will e're appear,
To distress our hearts with fear,
And to our Redeemer dear,
Songs of praise will resound.

Here the waves of trouble roll,
Stormy waves, dashing high;
Dark forebodings fill the soul,
As we see danger nigh;
But on that delightful shore,
All our trials will be o'er,
And we'll dwell forevermore
In our bright home on high.

Sore afflictions here we bear,
As we journey below,
But beyond this world of care,
We shall; be free from woe:
Nevermore to suffer pain,
But with Jesus to remain,
And unite in the sweet strain,
Which will there ever flow.

Here we see our friends depart,
To return nevermore,
As we stand with broken heart,
On the bleak, earthly shore:
Ah! 'tis hard to say farewell,
To the friends we love so well,
And without them here to dwell,
To behold them no more.

But we all shall meet again,
In our sweet home above,
Where forever free from pain
We shall all dwell in love;
Death will never, never come,
TO disturb that quiet home,
But we shall forever roam
O'er the sweet fields of love.
