CHURCHES:

MT. OVIS

Mt. Ovis Church was reconstituted in 1934, by Elders Bud Whaling, Doc Whaling, and Booker Mullins. Elder Bud Whaling was the first pastor. The church united with the New Liberty Association.

PILGRIM'S REST

Pilgrim's Rest Church was organized on July 11, 1931, having been an arm of Zion's Rest Church near Craigsville. Elder Z. T. Whaling was the first pastor, and was followed by Elders Alan Smith and Darius Underwood.

The first meeting house was claimed by the state when Interstate 79 was built in Clay County. The church met in private homes until 1984, when they purchased the old Moore Fork school building where they now meet.
