CHURCH:

PLEASANT VALLEY

Pleasant Valley Church was organized in 1908, at the home of Brother and Sister Newton J. Leap, in Rocky Ford. The charter members were Newton J. Leap, Addie Leap, William Leap, Hester Leap, Frank M. Leap, Susie Leap, and Emma Kent. The presbytery was composed of Elders John Lovitt, D. B. Nowels, and W. C. Perdue. Other brethren and sisters who were present were W. O. Long, Lida Long, J. H. Hardy, Susie Hardy, Louisa Perdue, Ellen Nowels, Malinda Lay, and Clara Swadley. Elder Lovitt was chosen moderator, and J. H. Hardy, clerk, of the council. Immediately following the organization, the church went into business session and extended an invitation for membership and Bro. M. Boan and Sister Eliza Boan were received by letter.
