CHURCHES:

TURMAN'S CREEK (1821)

A church called Turman's Creek was organized in 1821 and united with the Wabash District Association that year. The church continued to represent in the Association as late as 1854, but was no longer shown in 1856. Elder Joseph Thompson was one of the messengers. Bro. Jeremiah Thompson (a brother to Elder Wilson Thompson) was a member here. Elder T. Harris and Simon Billings were also members here. We have not learned the exact location of this church. Another church by the same name was organized later, as shown below.

TURMAN'S CREEK, FAIRBANKS (1893)

Turman's Creek Church was organized on November 25, 1893, at Fairbanks, with fourteen charter members, viz., Reuben Thompson, Levi Johnson, Wilson Thompson, Bethuel Johnson, Benjamin M. Drake, James G. Pound, Emily Thompson, Louisa Johnson, Sarah J. Thompson, Sarah Johnson, Melcena Drake, Rebecca Beauchamp, Eliza Trueblood, and Rachel A. Trueblood. Bro. Peter Kester of Hartford Church was chosen moderator, and S. B. Luckett of Crawfordsville Church as clerk, of the presbytery. Others in the presbytery included Elders R. W. Thompson, James H. Oliphant, and Deacons John H. Kester, and George Stout.
