CHURCHES:

ZION'S HILL (OAKDALE)

Zion's Hill Church was organized on Saturday, September 6, 1941. The presbytery was composed of Elders Levi Hite, Daily Hite, E. L. Kinter, and Deacon Amos Hite. Elder Kinter was chosen moderator and Elder Daily Hite clerk. The charter members were Gladys White, Nancy Brantley, Lillie Johnson, Walsie Greene, Herndon Oaks, Dale Henderson, and Elmer Greene. The church met, at first, in Pieffer School, on 9th Street (Kenmore District) in Akron. The name of the church was later changed to Oakdale.
