HARMONY

Harmony Church was organized July 27, 1867, at the Rural School house, five miles north of Indianola, Iowa. Elder Bonham Kester (of Middle River Church) served as moderator of the presbytery, and E. D. Dye (of Providence Church), as clerk. Elder J. M. Jaillite, Jerusha Kearney Sr., Enoch D. Dye, T. D. Kearney, William C. Simmons, and Mary Simmons, were the charter members. In 1875 Elder Jaillite was living at Indianola; and Elder T. D. Kearney, of Adelphi, Iowa, was also a member of this church at that time. After Harmony Church dissolved, Elder Jaillite united with Ebenezer Church in Mahaska County, Iowa.

FRIENDSHIP (1886)

Friendship Church, at Liberty Center, Iowa, was organized at the Hawkeye School, on June 26, 1886. There were eight charter members, viz., Elder Andrew J. Goforth, Tacy Goforth, Barbara Hanson, William Vincent, Julia A. Vincent, James F. Baugh, Margaret K. Baugh, Olive M. Spencer, George Moffitt, and Dora A. Frederick. Elder Goforth served as pastor until his death, in 1892. He was followed by Elders M. E. Young, S. T. Keeney and others.
