BENT CREEK (1785)(SEE HAMBLEN COUNTY)

Bent Creek Church was organized by Elders Tidence Lane and William Murphy in June 1785, the third Baptist Church in Tennessee. At that time the territory was in the state of Franklin, formerly Greene County, a colony of North Carolina. Eleven years later it became the state of Tennessee.

Friendship Church was organized on March 12, 1819, by a presbytery composed of Elders Duke Kimbrough, Richard Wood, Caleb Witt, Isaac Barton, William Wood, and Charles Kelly.
