NEW BEULAH (HAZELHURST) (1874)

Beulah Church was constituted in Hazelhurst, Georgia, May 16, 1874. The following were charter members: Elder M. Sikes, Johnson C. Towns, Deacon J. W. Lord, Jane Odum, Treech Lord, Carolyn Lord, and Jannette Sikes. In 1875 the church moved to Graham, Ga., and met there until June 1934. In July 1934 the church moved back to Hazelhurst, and the name of the church was changed o New Beulah, to avoid confusion with the former meeting place at Graham. Pastors who have served the church include Elders M. Sikes, J. W. Lord, J. C. Williams, T. J. Delbon, Freeman Lord, Herman Hand, Mark Ellis, Banks Lewis, W. F. Anderson, John M. Giddens, L. F. Watkins, J. D. Lynn, J. B. Lord, Jr., T. L. Graham, Ashley Griffin, Archie Hurst, C. E. Watkins, R. E. Barton, W. H. Hancock, J. F. Little, and Kermit Nobles.
