CHURCHES:

UNITY (BLANTON) (1841)

Unity Church was organized on the first Sunday in February, 1841, with fourteen members, viz., James Crawford, Dennis Dowling, William T. Rushing, Jacob Rhodes, John Carter, Allen B. Chitty, Curti Wetherington, William Wetherington, William Touchton, Dennis Wetherington, H. Crawford, Mary Rhoden, Belinda Rushing, and Dianna Chitty. It is the oldest church in Lowndes County, Georgia. Pastors have included Elders Rion Frier, W. A. Knight, Eld. Coward, A. G. Connell, T. W. Stallings, I. A. Wetherington, J. L. Harris, Charlie VIckers, O. A. Knight, Duncan McCranie, J. E. Parrish, O. J. Rives, Fred Bethea, and Bob Dickerson.

CAT CREEK (VALDOSTA) (1867)

Cat Creek Church was organized on the 29th of June, 1867, at Griffin's Mill, located on Cat Creek. Elder Ansel Parrish was the first pastor. He was followed by Elders Tim Stallings, E. J. Williams, A. A. Knight, John L. Harris, Orville Knight, O. J. Rives, Thad Marshall, and Bob Dickerson.

NEW FRIENDSHIP (HAHIRA) (1892)

Friendship Church was organized in this community in the 1830's, and disbanded in the 1880's. In 1892 it was reorganized, as New Friendship Church. The church was served by Elder O. J. Rives for many years. Elder Bob Dickerson was serving as pastor in 1985.
