CROOKED CREEK (1807)

At the intersection of GA-16 and Old Phoenix Road, travel north on Old Phoenix Road for .9 miles. Church on the right with cemetery behind church. Crooked Creek Primitive Baptist Church was organized in 1807. Ocmuglee Association. The book of church minutes from 1807-1846 and 1902-1960 can be found in the Putnam County Courthouse, Magistrates' Office, Eatonton, GA. The records between 1846-1902 were lost. The Minutes of the Crooked Creek Primitive Baptist Church show it was Constituted 27 June 1807 and written by Francis Flournoy. The first members of the church were: Male Members: Micajon Brooks,Thomas Cates, Thomas Low, Anthony Holloway, Peter Jackson, John Keelon, John Presley, Joseph Dennis, Hammon Wilkerson. Female Members: Mary Brooks,Pastsy Cates, Martha Dennis, Sarah Jackson, Elizabeth Williamson, Rhoda Heath, Ann Holloway, Polly Jackson, Elizabeth Preseley,Olive Wilkerson, Susannah Jackson.
